THE NATIONAL VACCINE INJURY COMPENSATION PROGRAM
The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program was created by Congress in 1988 to award financial compensation to individuals who suffer serious injuries caused by vaccinations. There are many commonly administered vaccines that are covered for consideration in this program.

FY 2025 Snapshot
For this current fiscal year, this agency has been granted authority to spend $216M out of this federal account. They carried over a balance of $7M from last year, were given $208M in new appropriations, and have authority to use $0 of other budgetary resources. To date, 73.7% ($159M) of the total $216M has been obligated.
